With London’s meat scene exploding with new openings (many of which you can’t book, which will be the subject of a different blog), Pie Hunter is working hard to keep up. Somebody has to do it.
The Red Dog Saloon in Hoxton has been on Pie Hunter’s list for a little while now and the team enjoyed a great evening on Wednesday, lured by promises of award-winning hickory smoked ribs and the ‘best wings in London’ cooked on its imported US smoker.
It didn’t disappoint. While tempted by the Devastator (three burgers with pulled pork and bacon sides), it was hard to look beyond wings to share and Carnivore Platters to share (£19.50 per person) which included exceptional pulled pork, sausage, beef ribs, chicken. We weren’t blown away by the pork ribs which we like to be a little less soft (see Bodeans), but did like the Burnt End Pie side for the pie novelty factor.
