We had to pull a technical to ensure we ticked ‘X’ off the list. For the uninitiated, Xianjiang is a city in China, the home of almost 8 million people and once the capital of the Qin dynasty. All good?

Featured in Time Out’s best 100 cheap eats, The Silk Road in Camberwell was probably the best tripe serving restaurant we have visited. We also enjoyed the dumplings, noodles, lamb skewers, stews and other spicy fare from the region.

After taking a bit of time to navigate the menu, we dived right in for the full experience and were rewarded with a great meal at a very affordable price.
